The Planning Commission hears applications for land use, zoning classifications, recommends legislative actions, reviews legislation, rules, and regulations re: city planning, land use, and zoning. New Albany City Council generally meets at Village Hall the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. City council may hold special council meetings and workshops, as needed. The Rocky Fork Blacklick Accord evaluates applications for rezoning and makes recommendations to the planning body of the impacted jurisdiction (Columbus, New Albany, Plain Township) in the RFBA area. Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 4:00 p.m.

The Board of Zoning Appeals hears and decides appeals regarding legislation and administrative determinations related to zoning and land use. The Architectural Review Board reviews plans, drawings, and signage applications, issues Certificates of Appropriateness for any major or minor environmental or zoning changes. Meetings are held at Village Hall (99 W. Main Street) the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

The Sustainability Advisory Board advises City Council on matters relating to sustainability, promotes and communicates sustainability principles broadly among the community and stakeholders, advises and assists City Council and city manager in efforts to make city operations more sustainable.
