Leisure Trail Etiquette

Our trails are being used more than ever and it’s fantastic that people are choosing to get outside and exercise. Please remember that if you are cycling, running, or even walking a little faster than those in front of you, you should pass people on their left side and announce, “On your left!”, so that people can expect you to pass them without being surprised.

Another complaint we periodically receive is about dogs not being leashed on trails. Dog owners, please remember that your dog must be under your control at all times. You can be cited if it scares others off leash while not under your control. The easiest way to ensure control is to leash your dog while it is out with you on the trails. If you want to exercise your dog off leash, another alternative is to take your dog to the dog park at Rocky Fork Metro Park.
