Compost Storytime
Join two of the New Albany-Plain Local students who were awarded the first Student Leaders in Sustainability grant on their mission to educate everyone about how easy composting really is!

New Albany 101: Public Service Department Tour
Join us on April 23 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the New Albany public service complex for a behind-the-scenes tour of the department that makes New Albany better for both residents and visitors every day of the year. New Albany’s public service crews take care of everything from street trees to snow removal, and traffic lights to sanitary sewers. Participants can learn more about our vehicles, equipment, salt barn, solar panels, and composting!

New Albany 101 is an IDEA Implementation Panel initiative created with the goal of making local government accessible to all of New Albany’s residents.
Taylor Farm Park Community Garden Open House
When complete, the new community garden at Taylor Farm Park will feature both traditional and raised planting beds, a potting and storage shed and indoor restrooms. Join Adrienne Joly, New Albany’s director of administrative services, for tours and updates on the construction of the new garden. The open house format of this event will allow Adrienne and Healthy New Albany staff to answer questions while you explore and enjoy a garden-themed snack!

Arbor Day Proclamation
New Albany City Councilmember Matt Shull as he officially proclaims April 26 as Arbor Day in New Albany and encourages all of us to plant trees to promote the well-being of this and future generations. Immediately following the Arbor Day Proclamation ceremony, the City of New Albany’s Forestry team will work with New Albany Plain-Local Schools students to plant 100 saplings in Resch Park. Please note that the Proclamation Ceremony is open to the public, but the tree planting is a private collaboration with the schools. The Arbor Day Proclamation will be read at 9:30 a.m. at Resch Park which is adjacent to the Ealy House.
