Recent CDC light trap data from the New Albany/Plain Twp South trap zone showed 100 mosquitoes were trapped on June 5. According to our mosquito management contract with Franklin County Public Health, when a CDC light trap catches 50 or more mosquitoes, the trap zone where that trap is located will be sprayed to reduce the number of adult mosquitoes. This spray event is to reduce the number of nuisance/floodwater mosquitoes; these are not the species that can carry West Nile virus.
Franklin County Public Health plans to spray the New Albany/Plain Twp. South zone on Monday, June 8, 2020 beginning at 9:00 p.m. (weather permitting). The planned spray maps have been updated on the Franklin County Public Health website at https://mosquito.myfcph.org/spray-schedule-maps/ for the public to view.
