Columbia Gas Project to Include Large Flares

Columbia Gas will be performing a maintenance exercise at its facility located at Central College Rd. and New Albany Rd. W. This facility is part of the Columbia Gas pipeline inspection gauge that inspects and cleans their system. The work is scheduled to take place May 20, May 23-27 and May 30. As part of the work, there will be 40-50 foot flares that last 2-3 hours per session. These flares will be very loud and produce lots of heat. The flares are used to provide the demand on the system at the end of the line to propel the inline inspection tool.
