Eclipse Safety Measures from NAPD

As we eagerly anticipate the total solar eclipse on April 8, we want to address some concerns we have heard about an influx of visitors. State agencies are expecting a significant increase in visitors to Ohio, mostly in the path of totality to our north and west. While this event is expected to draw large crowds across Ohio and possible traffic congestion, the New Albany Police Department does not anticipate widespread problems locally. We have consulted with relevant agencies, assessed potential risks, and have taken necessary precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents and visitors alike. We have increased staffing levels in our dispatch room and on patrol shifts to effectively respond to any situation that may arise.

Please exercise caution and patience while enjoying this once-in-a-lifetime event! You can find preparedness resources at eclipse.ohio.gov and information about events surrounding the eclipse at ohio.org/eclipse.
