Matt and his wife Vickey have been New Albany residents since 2000, and their son and two daughters all graduated from New Albany High School. Matt received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University. He recently retired from Pfizer Inc. Now that Matt is retired, he enjoys spending time with his grandson, playing pickleball, and serving on City Council.
Matt served on the Board of Zoning Appeals from 2004-2016 and as its Chair for two years. He was appointed to City Council in 2016 to replace Sloan Spalding, who had become mayor. Matt was re-elected by New Albany residents in 2017 and again in 2021. As a member of City Council, Matt is currently serving as President Pro Tempore. He currently serves as Chair of City Council’s Hotel/Motel Bed Tax Subcommittee. Additionally, he serves as the Council Liaison to Board of Zoning and Appeals, Council Representative to New Albany Parks & Recreation, and Council Member on the Community Improvement Corporation. Matt has served as the Council Liaison to the Architectural Review Board, Planning Commission, and Charter Review Commission. He is a graduate of the New Albany Citizen Police Academy.
The City of New Albany has continued to experience tremendous growth and opportunity during Matt’s tenure. He is committed to continuing that positive momentum by focusing on three key areas: economic development (growing our business campus), maintaining strong fiscal management, and providing top quality services to the community. Matt is a leader who enjoys meeting with the residents of New Albany, America’s best suburb (and best residents)!
