Leaf Collection Tips for New Albany Residents

February 20-26 is National Invasive Species Awareness Week! Invasive species are those that do not occur in a region naturally and cause ecological or economic harm; or they present a hazard to human or domestic animal health. The City of New Albany forestry team regularly removes invasive plants around our community. Doing so allows our native plants to thrive, increases water quality and improves wildlife habitat. This work also creates a safer and more welcoming park experience by improving visibility along trails. Watch this video to learn more from our crews as they work on a recent project!

City of New Albany Invasive Plant Removal

The New Albany Public Service staff members are working hard to be good stewards of taxpayer money. When new federal regulations for CDL training went into effect in 2022, the changes could have had a substantial effect on the public service department's budget. However, team members Angie Hobart and Shaun Bush worked to create an in-house CDL training program that is saving the city tens of thousands of dollars. We're proud of the work they are doing!

2022 Snow Plow Tips

City of New Albany snow warriors pride themselves on delivering the best snow removal service in Central Ohio. They hone their winter skills before the first snowflakes even fall by taking part in our annual snow rodeo. The rodeo allows employees to get used to the equipment and practice maneuverability on a course designed to be both challenging and fun. Check it out in this quick video!

2021 New Albany Snow Plow Rodeo

Crews from Third Sun Solar recently completed a six-week project to install 271 solar panels on our public service garage roof. The roof’s size, orientation, pitch, and material construction made it a perfect fit for this 5,570 sq. ft. project. Using solar energy in this way will help protect our environment by annually removing 112 metric tons of carbon dioxide from the air. That is the equivalent of planting 2,800 new trees!
