Healthy New Albany Staff Changes

Healthy New Albany Executive Director Phil Heit has announced that he is transitioning to a new role as strategic advisor for the organization starting July 1. Heit sent the following message to the community:

“I am writing to inform you that effective July 1, 2020, I will be stepping down as executive director of Healthy New Albany and transition to my new role as strategic advisor to this remarkable organization. I will continue to be involved with community relations, advise with our races and work with our donors in supporting our mission to promote a culture of health.

Having had the opportunity to serve as Healthy New Albany’s executive director over the past five years has been the highlight of my professional career. I have been immersed in a community that is caring, loving and expresses itself in so many ways to the benefit of others. Healthy New Albany has been the recipient of so many gestures of kindness from its city government and residents during my tenure. I am overwhelmed by the support Healthy New Albany has received from countless businesses and organizations throughout central Ohio for so many years. But for the acts of kindness from so many, Healthy New Albany would not exist.

While the timing of my transition comes during an uncertain period, Healthy New Albany, in many respects is flourishing. Its programs are bountiful and are led by staff that is competent, committed and caring. While COVID-19 has caused us to adjust to the economic hardships we and so many other nonprofits face, I remain optimistic that we will continue to provide services and programs to our community that are so necessary for achieving the highest level of physical, social and mental well-being.

I also want to take this opportunity to share with you that Angela Douglas who formerly led the New Albany Food Pantry and currently serves as director of operations at Healthy New Albany will become the new Executive Director. I concur with our Board that she is the right leader to help the nonprofit successfully focus and execute the implementation of its strategic plan.

Both Angela and I are eager to continue to serve our community with excellence, pride and passion as we assume our new roles.”
