Market/Main Gas Leak Update
Update: August 27 at 1:30 p.m. – The Market/Main roundabout is now back open in all directions. Thank you for your patience.
Update: August 27 at 8 a.m. – The gas leak has been clamped, evacuated residents can re-enter their homes and area businesses will be able to open for normal business hours today. Crews are still on site to patch the roadway and will likely remain through the morning. The roundabout will remain closed until at least later today.
Update: August 27 at 3:07 a.m.The gas leak at the Market & Main intersection has been cleared and residents of the Robertson and McCue buildings can return to their homes. Columbia Gas will be doing repairs.
Update: August 26 at 10:30 p.m. – The gas line leak has been clamped and no additional evacuations are foreseen at this point. Those evacuated already should check city social media pages for a time when they can return. The Market and Main roundabout will remain closed through the morning rush hour and traffic will be detoured. We are not yet sure when affected businesses can reopen on Friday.
Update: August 26 at 8:10 p.m. – The Market/Main roundabout will be closed until at least midnight due to a gas leak in the area. The gas leak continues to be monitored and currently only the McCue and Robertson residential buildings have been evacuated. Further evacuations may be necessary. We will provide updates as they become available.
Thursday, August 26 at 5:45 p.m. – Main St. and Market St. are currently closed near the roundabout due to a utility issue. Please avoid the area if possible. Businesses in the area have been closed until the issue is resolved. We appreciate your patience and will provide updates as they become available.
