Jug Street Improvement Project

On Monday, March 14, 2022, work began on the reconstruction and widening of Jug St. between Beech Rd. and Harrison Rd. Initial work included the construction of a future shared use path/temporary pavement on the north side of existing Jug St. between Beech Rd. and Harrison Rd. This project also included the construction of a roundabout at Jug St. and Harrison Rd.

Roundabout at Jug Street and Harrison Road

Jug St. in this area will be reconstructed to a curbed three-lane roadway with shared use paths, lighting, and landscaping.

  • Continuing impacts: Jug St. between Central College and Beech Rd. will resume the “local access only” condition (no through traffic) beginning Tuesday, September 6. Northbound and southbound Beech Rd. as well as westbound Jug St. will not be able to access Jug St. west of the Beech/Jug intersection. Access to Jug St. from Central College will also face the same restrictions.
  • Detour for Jug St.: Beech Rd. to Smith’s Mill Rd., Smith’s Mill Rd. to US 62/Johnstown Rd., US 62/Johnstown Rd. to Central College Rd./Jug St. or reverse. Jug St. west of the Beech/Jug intersection is expected to reopen October 24.
  • New impacts: Jug St. east of Beech Rd. is now open to two-way traffic through Mink St.
  • New impacts: The intersection of Harrison Rd. and Jug St. is now open to two-way traffic through the roundabout, except for the northern leg of the roundabout to the Harrison Rd. extension, which will only be accessible to construction traffic.

Starting September 6, 2022, Jug Street west of the Beech/Jug intersection will be closed to through traffic until approximately October 24 to facilitate the installation of a sanitary sewer that will run along the center of Jug Street. Access to this portion of Jug Street from Central College Road will face the same restrictions. Detour signage will be posted to assist with navigating the closure. After the sewer is installed, the road will be reopened. Repaving and other roadway improvements to the impacted area will follow shortly thereafter.
