The New Albany Police Department has had several complaints (prior to school starting) about young people operating electric scooters and bicycles in unsafe manners around the community. Please remember that it is illegal to operate such vehicles without helmets or with more than one passenger riding on scooters and bikes. We want all students, pedestrians, and motorists to remain safe this school year. Also, NAPD will start taking enforcement action. Use of electric bikes and scooters on leisure trails is permitted unless there is signage posted prohibiting it. Remember that best practice would be to give some type of audible warning when you are about to pass someone. Let’s stay safe, New Albany!
