Bevelhymer/Walnut Roundabout & Fieldhouse Project Utility Work

New Albany City Council Approved Utility Work for Bevelhymer/Walnut Roundabout and Fieldhouse

At its April 15 meeting, New Albany City Council approved critical funding for utility improvements that will support two highly anticipated community projects: the Bevelhymer Road and Walnut Street Roundabout Improvement Project and the new fieldhouse at Bevelhymer Park.

Project Highlights

This phase of the project focuses on preparing essential infrastructure for both developments. Key elements include:

  • Extending water and sanitary sewer service to the future fieldhouse site

  • Connecting two dead-end water lines to help improve overall water quality in the area

  • Installing a 12-inch water main along with burying a utility duct bank to support long-term capacity

  • Relocating overhead electric lines to clear the way for safe and efficient roundabout construction

These utility enhancements will pave the way for improved community access and functionality. The new roundabout is designed to ease congestion and increase safety at a high-traffic intersection that serves Bevelhymer Park and nearby residential neighborhoods.

Utility work is scheduled for completion by July 31, 2025, with roundabout construction set to begin shortly after. The project is targeting substantial completion by December 1, 2025.

Investment

Estimated Total Cost:

  • $2.3 million for construction

  • $300,000 in soft costs

  • Funded through the City’s 2025 Capital Improvement Budget

The Bevelhymer/Walnut Roundabout and Fieldhouse Project represents a strategic investment in New Albany’s infrastructure, safety, and recreation amenities. Stay tuned for more updates as construction progresses.
