Statement Regarding Meta's Nuclear Energy Projects

Earlier this month, Meta announced nuclear energy projects related to the delivery of power to the grids that support its operations, including the Prometheus supercluster in the New Albany International Business Park. There are no plans to build a nuclear power plant in New Albany. Meta’s announcement relates to agreements that support existing nuclear plants in Ohio (Perry and Davis-Besse) and Pennsylvania (Beaver Valley) and the future development of advanced nuclear technology at locations outside of New Albany, specifically in Pike County. None of these projects involve constructing a nuclear facility in the New Albany community.

Meta’s New Albany Data Center will draw power from the regional electric grid, and Meta pays the full cost of the energy it uses. The City of New Albany is not hosting, approving, or planning any nuclear generation facility. We remain committed to transparency and will continue to share accurate information as questions arise.
