Bethany Staats, CPA, began her duties as New Albany’s finance director in July 2017 and oversees a department responsible for budgeting, financial reporting, treasury management, payroll, benefits administration, income tax administration, centralized accounting and public financing initiatives.
New Albany maintains a Triple A bond rating from Standard and Poor’s and Moody’s. New Albany also consistently receives certificates of excellence in financial reporting and budgeting.
Prior to coming to New Albany, Bethany worked for the City of Upper Arlington for nearly 4 years and served as the finance manager initially before being promoted to the assistant finance director. Prior to the City of Upper Arlington, Staats worked for nearly 8 years for Julian & Grube, Inc., a public accounting firm specializing in serving Ohio local governments. At Julian & Grube, Bethany’s final position was audit manager.
Bethany graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and earned her master’s degree in accounting and financial management from Keller Graduate School of Management.
Bethany is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and also has served on various public finance boards and committees. Currently, Bethany serves on the executive board and the board of trustees of the Ohio Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) as the secretary and sponsorship co-chair, and she is also a member of the organization’s education committee.
Bethany resides in Centerburg with her husband Brent, owner of Staats Plumbing, and their children Coleman, Calais and Abigail.
