Parade, Fireworks & More

Celebrate with us July 4, 2025!

Mark your calendars for New Albany’s annual Independence Day Parade on Friday, July 4, at 11 a.m. Our “Too Fly for the 4th of July” theme invites the entire community to get involved and make this our biggest and best parade yet! 

A stunning fireworks display will begin at approximately 10 p.m. You can best view the show around Rose Run Park and the NAPLS campus.

Due to ongoing construction at Church of the Resurrection, a traditionally popular fireworks viewing location, several areas of the church property will be unavailable for parking or fireworks viewing on July 4. Click here to learn more.

Parade Route and Detours

Motorists Should Plan Ahead to Avoid Road Closures

As we celebrate Independence Day in New Albany, please be aware of temporary road closures and detours related to the annual 5K, parade, and fireworks. Expect delays in the Village Center and surrounding areas throughout the morning and evening. Signage and message boards will be in place to help guide motorists. Parade Grand Marshal - Dave Ferguson, Trustee

Dave Ferguson has been a Plain Township Trustee since 2008 (17-years). Dave works hard to represent and work with all stakeholders in the township and city to ensure we are working together for the benefit of all families in the New Albany community. He is passionate about New Albany schools and providing township services that are fiscally responsible.

Dave Ferguson has lived in New Albany since 1998 and has been actively involved in the community with various school and church committees. He previously served as the head coach for the high school girls lacrosse team. Dave has been married to his wife Kristin for 38-years; they have four children who all attended New Albany schools.

Dave is employed by American Electric Power Company and is the Vice President of Transmission Finance. Dave has worked in treasury, business development planning and finance. Dave has an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Parade Highlights

Get ready for an unforgettable Independence Day Parade filled with patriotic performances, larger-than-life entertainment, and festive surprises! This year’s celebration will feature special appearances from iconic characters, incredible live acts, and dazzling displays of red, white, and blue. Whether you’re watching from the sidelines or marching in the parade, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

  • Amazing Giants entertainment, featuring: stilt walkers, a patriotic juggler, a patriotic penny-farthing cyclist, a bald eagle roller skater, Lollipop Lyra aerialist

Inclusivity Zone

The City of New Albany is proud to introduce an Inclusivity Zone at the end of this year’s Independence Day Parade route. Located near accessible parking, this area is designed to be more sensory-friendly so that all families can enjoy the parade. Parade participants are required to adjust their performances when passing through this zone by lowering volume, avoiding flashing lights or sudden noises, and not throwing items from floats. The Inclusivity Zone is a work in progress, and we will update this page with more information as we receive it.

Independence Day 5K

Race into Independence Day with a 5K hosted by the New Albany Symphony Orchestra

Celebrate the Fourth of July with the annual New Albany Independence Day 5K Walk, Run & Family Races—proudly presented by the New Albany Symphony Orchestra and IVIM Health! This festive community tradition offers something for everyone, including the 5K race, the adorable 20-Yard Toddler Crawl (sponsored by AcademyOne), the 1/4 Mile Kids FUN Run (sponsored by Maple Orthodontics), and the crowd-favorite Pet Parade (sponsored by Sandy Mendoza).

As part of this year’s celebration, 100 complimentary race entries are available for U.S. veterans and active military members, courtesy of Northwest Bank. City Offices Closed July 4

Trash Collection Will Remain on Schedule

We hope you have a safe and happy 4th of July! City offices will be closed in observance of the holiday. Trash, recycling and yard waste collection WILL NOT be affected. New Albany Police will continue to provide 24/7 service.
