Community Development Director

As Community Development Director for the City of New Albany since 2005, Jennifer Chrysler has overseen an innovative, collaborative and customer-centric approach to managing the city’s growth. She is widely credited with expediting the planning process through one-stop location resources and technology- and shovel-ready sites. Her commitment to public-private partnerships has resulted in one of the region’s leading technology infrastructures for business. 

Jennifer directs the master planning, building, engineering and economic development activities for the city and through this oversight was instrumental in developing the city’s first comprehensive economic development plan and five specialized clusters of commerce that have attracted global investment. Under her leadership, the New Albany International Business Park has experienced $6 billion in private investment, 14 million square feet of commercial development and the creation of 16,000 new jobs for the community. At the same time, she has guided effort to refine and expand New Albany’s Village Center with pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use amenities, restaurants, retail and housing.

Jennifer received dual bachelor’s degrees in urban studies and sociology from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of City and Regional Planning from The Ohio State University.
