John McClelland was sworn in to New Albany City Council on June 30, 2026. As a member of City Council, he aims to help New Albany prepare for the future while preserving the sense of community that makes it an exceptional place to live. 

John brings a long record of public service and community leadership to New Albany City Council. He served on the New Albany-Plain Local Schools Board of Education from January 2014 until June 2026, including terms as both President and Vice President. John remains proud of his role in helping NAPLS become one of the top-performing districts in Ohio and values the strong partnership among the school district, the City, and community partners. 

John has more than 20 years of experience in public affairs, communications, and government relations. He currently serves as Chief Communications and Public Affairs Officer for the Columbus Regional Airport Authority. He and his wife, Angelika, have lived in New Albany since 2015 and are the proud parents of three children who attended New Albany-Plain Local Schools.
