A Two-Day Celebration for America's 250th Birthday!

Celebrating the Semiquincentennial

As the nation marks the 250th anniversary of the United States, the City of New Albany invites residents and visitors to join a two-day Independence Day celebration honoring America’s history, spirit, and sense of community.

From a family-friendly “Pre-Declaration Party” at Rose Run Park on July 3 to the annual Independence Day Parade and Fireworks on July 4, this special celebration will feature patriotic entertainment, interactive activities, live music, and hometown traditions designed for all ages. Whether you’re enjoying a drone show under the stars, cheering on parade participants, or celebrating alongside neighbors and friends, New Albany’s Semiquincentennial celebration promises a memorable tribute to 250 years of American independence.

July 3: Pre-Declaration Party

7-10 p.m. at Rose Run Park

We are partying like it’s 1776, so bring your family, friends, and patriotic spirit for an unforgettable evening packed with music, sweet treats, and all-American fun. The first 1,000 guests will score FREE ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, and popsicles — so come early and cool off in delicious style!

Test your skills (and appetite!) in our crowd-favorite Pie Eating Contest, show off your patriotic pride in the Preamble of the Constitution Contest, and cheer on riders in the wildly entertaining Paul Revere Horse Race. (More details to come for signing up!)

Kids and families can enjoy hula hoops, light-up toys, and festive activities throughout the park while a strolling barbershop quartet fills the evening with classic Americana charm.

Enjoy a special performance by the New Albany Symphony at the Hinson Amphitheater, creating the perfect soundtrack for a summer night celebration. Click the link below to get your tickets.

Then, as the night sky darkens, look up for an incredible Drone Show beginning at 9:45 p.m. It’s sure to be a dazzling high-tech finale you won’t want to miss!

Independence Day Parade

Saturday, July 4 at 11 a.m.

This year’s theme — “Party Like It’s 1776” — invites everyone to celebrate America’s birthday with colonial flair, red-white-and-blue spirit, and plenty of hometown excitement. From dazzling decorate golf carts in our “Putt Putt Processional” to marching bands, festive costumes, and surprise entertainment, the parade promises nonstop fun for all ages.

Leading this year’s celebration as Grand Marshals are Chief of Police Greg Jones and City Manager Joe Stefanov, honored for their outstanding service and dedication to the New Albany community.

Grab your family, find your perfect viewing spot along the parade route (see link below) and enjoy one of New Albany’s favorite Independence Day traditions. Whether you come dressed in stars and stripes, colonial costumes, or your favorite patriotic gear, everyone is invited to join the celebration and show their American spirit.

Want to be part of the parade? Gather your neighbors, organization, business, or friends and sign up to participate using the parade registration link!

Accommodation Station

The City of New Albany is proud to have an Accommodation Station at the end of the Independence Day Parade route. Located near accessible parking, this area is designed to be more sensory-friendly so that all families can enjoy the parade. Parade participants are required to adjust their performances when passing through this zone by lowering volume, avoiding flashing lights or sudden noises, and not throwing items from floats. The Accommodation Station is a work in progress, and we will update this page with more information as we receive it.

For a parking pass in the Inclusivity Zone or for more information, please email communityevents@newalbanyohio.org to set up your accommodation.
