New Albany Police Department Scam Calls

NAPD would like to alert residents about a possible scam involving phone calls from people pretending to be New Albany Police officers. Our police offer the following tips:

  • If you receive a call from the New Albany Police Department that you suspect is not from the police, hang up and call the department using its published phone number (614-855-1234), asking if an officer was trying to reach you.
  • Know that scammers can spoof the department’s phone number on your caller ID, making it appear the police department is calling you.
  • The New Albany Police Department will never call you and ask for donations or demand payment for fines.
  • The New Albany Police Department or any other law enforcement agency will not call, threaten arrest or imprisonment, and demand immediate payment in gift cards or crypto-currency.
  • The New Albany Police Department will never ask you for any sensitive information such as Social Security numbers over the phone.
