Closed on Memorial Day: What New Albany Residents Should Know

City Offices Will Be Closed on Memorial Day

In observance of Memorial Day, all City of New Albany offices will be closed on Monday, May 26. As we take this time to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, we want to ensure residents are informed about holiday schedule changes that may affect your week.

Trash, Recycling, and Yard Waste Collection Schedule

Due to the holiday, trash, recycling, and yard waste collection will be delayed by one day. Instead of the usual Thursday pickup, Rumpke will collect on Friday, May 30. The regular collection schedule will resume the following week.

If you have any questions about your waste collection, please contact Rumpke directly or visit the City’s trash and recycling services page.

Police Services Uninterrupted

While City offices will be closed, the New Albany Police Department will continue to provide 24/7 service. For emergencies, always dial 911. For non-emergency assistance, residents can reach dispatch at (614) 855-1234.

Honor Memorial Day with a Community Ceremony

Residents looking to commemorate the true meaning of Memorial Day are invited to attend Plain Township’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony. The ceremony will take place at Maplewood Cemetery on Monday, May 26, beginning at 9:45 a.m.

This meaningful tradition offers a chance to reflect, honor, and pay tribute to those who gave their lives in defense of our nation. Whether you’re a veteran, a family member, or a community member who simply wants to show respect, all are welcome.
