Cast a Line with NAPD at Cops and Bobbers on July 19

The New Albany Police Department is reeling in summer fun with the return of its third annual Cops and Bobbers Fishing Derby—a free community event designed to bring kids and cops together for a morning of outdoor adventure!

  • Saturday, July 19, 2025
  • 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (rain or shine)
  • Bevelhymer Park Pond (corner of Bevelhymer Rd. and Walnut St.)

Children ages 5 to 15 are invited to cast their lines alongside New Albany officers for a chance to win prizes in the following categories:

  • Largest Fish

  • Smallest Fish

  • Most Fish Caught

No fishing license is required, but participants must bring their own fishing gear. Bait will be provided while supplies last, and grilled hotdogs will be available free of charge.

In addition to fishing fun, kids and families can explore the NAPD child ID booth, check out the police drone in action, and enjoy a great morning of community connection.

Whether your child is a first-time angler or a fishing enthusiast, this family-friendly event is a great opportunity to meet local officers in a relaxed and friendly environment.

No registration required—just show up and join the fun! We can’t wait to see you at Bevelhymer Park on July 19!
