Protect Your Vehicle and Valuables: New Albany PD's Safety Guide

Vehicle-related crimes, particularly thefts from motor vehicles, continue to be a concern in our community and across central Ohio. So far this year, New Albany Police have investigated 15 incidents of stolen vehicles and 43 cases of thefts from motor vehicles.

To help protect yourself and your property, NAPD reminds residents to be vigilant and follow these important safety tips:

  • Never leave keys or key fobs in your car. This is the easiest way for thieves to steal your vehicle.

  • Remove or hide all valuable items. Don’t leave purses, wallets, electronics, or shopping bags in plain sight.

  • Keep your car doors locked and windows up. An unlocked door is an invitation for a crime of opportunity.

  • Do not leave firearms in your vehicle. This not only makes you a victim of theft, but it also puts a dangerous weapon on the street.

By taking these simple precautions, you can significantly reduce your risk of becoming a victim. Let’s work together to keep New Albany safe.
