New Albany City Council is seeking residents who are interested in serving their community through several openings on our boards and commissions. These opportunities allow residents to lend their perspective, expertise, and passion to important work that supports preservation, inclusion, and responsible growth across our city.
If you are already serving on a New Albany city board, you may also apply to for these open positions. The deadline to apply for all three openings is February 11, 2026.
Open Position on the Cemetery Restoration Advisory Board
City Council has announced an opening on the Cemetery Restoration Advisory Board (CRAB). This board advises council and staff on issues related to the restoration and maintenance of New Albany cemeteries. The applicant must be a New Albany resident. Interest in history and restoration preferred, no experience necessary. The CRAB meets once per month as needed.

Open Position on the IDEA Implementation PanelÂ
City Council has announced an opening on the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Equality & Accessibility (IDEA) Implementation Panel. Panel members assist the City of New Albany in its efforts to make the city a welcoming and supportive environment for all. IDEA programs have included the NA 101 series, Juneteenth, Diwali, EmpowHER, Accessibility in New Albany Listening Session, and the Community Connectors Program. The IDEA Implementation Panel meets once per month (second Thursdays) as needed.

Open Position on the Community Reinvestment Area Housing CouncilÂ
City Council has announced an opening on the Community Reinvestment Area Housing Council (CRAHC). CRAHC members make an annual inspection of the properties within the community reinvestment area for which a tax exemption has been granted and hear appeals. A background in business or residential design/construction is preferred, but no experience is necessary. The CRAHC only meets once per year, usually in December.
