Safety Town ProRider Helmets Recalled

If your child attended New Albany Safety Town in the past and received a bicycle helmet as part of the program, please take a moment to read this important notice. ProRider bicycle helmets manufactured in 2022 have been officially recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. These are the helmets that were distributed through programs like ours.

Why are they being recalled?

Specifically, they fail to comply with impact attenuation, positional stability, labeling, and certification requirements. In plain terms, in the event of a crash, these helmets may not adequately protect your child’s head, posing a serious risk of injury or death.

How do I know if my child’s helmet is affected?

Check the label inside the helmet for the model number, manufacture date, and serial number. They were sold in blue, green, red, black, and purple. Recalled helmets include the following ProRider models manufactured in 2022: Economy Bicycle Helmet, Bike Helmet with Turn Ring, Bike Helmet Black Foam, BMX Helmet, and Toddler Bike Helmet.

What should I do?

Stop using the helmet immediately and throw it away. To receive a full refund, destroy the helmet by cutting the straps, then send a photo of the destroyed helmet to ProRider. If you have any questions, please reach out to ProRider directly.
