NAPD Issues Scam Alert

Scam involves people impersonating police officers; NAPD says don’t fall for people demanding payment over the phone

The New Albany Police Department is alerting residents to a recent increase in scam calls involving individuals impersonating law enforcement officers.

In these cases, callers falsely claim the recipient missed jury duty and now has a warrant for their arrest. The caller then pressures the individual to make an immediate payment to avoid arrest.

Please remember: law enforcement will never demand payment over the phone or request gift cards as a form of payment. If you receive a call like this, do not engage or provide any personal or financial information. Hang up and call the New Albany Police Department to verify at 614-855-1234.

Staying informed is one of the best ways to protect yourself and others in our community.
