Update: Thompson Road reopens after flooding

5:30 p.m. update: Thompson Road has reopened to traffic.

8 a.m. update: New Albany Police say Thompson Road east is closed at Thompson Park due to flooding. Expect high water around Beech Road, Reynoldsburg-New Albany Road, and Jug Street and Harrison Road. Please avoid these areas.

7:15 a.m. update: Out of an abundance of caution and the extreme rain combined with the possibility of flooding in areas of the district, New Albany-Plain Local Schools will be on a two-hour delay this morning. There is no morning Eagles Nest, and Kindergarten assessments will be impacted. Communication on that will go directly to ELC families later Thursday morning.

5 a.m. update: New Albany Police are warning motorists of hazardous high water across the city following heavy rainfall on Thursday, Aug. 20. As of 5 a.m., several roadways are impacted, including portions of Morse Road, Beech Road, and S.R. 161.

Motorists should use caution and never drive through high water. Before driving, check for road closures and plan for additional travel time.

Please avoid flooded areas and follow posted closure signs.
