2026 Trick-or-Treat Rescheduled for October 29

After significant community feedback, the City of New Albany has chosen to reschedule Trick-or-Treat to Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 6-8 p.m., rain or shine. This date is consistent with the longstanding recommendation of the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC).

To reflect community feedback and help families plan for the holiday in coming years, New Albany will celebrate Trick-or-Treat on the date recommended by MORPC going forward.

We look forward to celebrating Halloween together!

Inclement Weather:

  • Keep an eye on the forecast and prepare for the weather.
  • Wear weather-appropriate costumes, and consider reflective elements for visibility.
  • Remember flashlights for added safety.

Trick or Treaters and Treat Givers

  • Trick or treat with members of your household or with a trusted adult.
  • Fasten reflective tape to costumes and bags to help drivers see you.
  • Examine all treats for choking hazards and tampering before eating them. Limit the amount of treats you eat.
  • Hold a flashlight while trick-or-treating to help you see and others see you. WALK and don’t run from house to house.
  • Look both ways before crossing the street. Use crosswalks wherever possible.
  • Be sure your parents always know where you are going to trick or treat.
  • Do not ride a bicycle because your costume might get tangled in the wheels.
  • Accept treats only outside of a home. Never go into a house.

Tips for Parents

  • Turn off house lights if you are not participating this year.
  • When buying costumes, look for flame retardant material.
  • Examine all treats for choking hazards and tampering before eating them.

Tips for Drivers

  • Slow down and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods.
  • Take extra time to look for kids at intersections and on medians and curbs.
  • Enter and exit driveways and alleys slowly and carefully.
  • Eliminate any distractions inside your car so you can concentrate on the road and surroundings.
  • Drive slowly, anticipate heavy pedestrian traffic and turn your headlights on earlier in the day to spot children from greater distances.
