A new winter tradition is coming to New Albany! Beginning November 22, residents and visitors can enjoy an outdoor ice rink at the Charleen & Charles Hinson Amphitheater, bringing a new way to gather with family and friends throughout the holiday season and winter months.
Open through February 28, the rink will offer a seasonal destination for skating, making memories, and enjoying the winter season in the heart of New Albany.
The rink will open alongside the City’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration on November 22, which will also feature a new location this year. For the first time, the community’s holiday tree and lighting ceremony will take place at Rose Run Park. Before the ceremony, families can enjoy a special Santa Skate at the amphitheater featuring festive music, photos with Santa, letters to the North Pole, and jingle bell decorating.
On December 6, the community can celebrate Hanukkah with a special Hanukkah Skate featuring a skating dreidel, dreidel decorating, and traditional games.
Both themed skating events will run from noon to 4:30 p.m., with the ice rink remaining open until 8 p.m. on both days. Admission is $15 per person and includes skate rentals and all activities inside the amphitheater.
The holiday celebrations will continue with free, community-wide lighting ceremonies at Rose Run Park. The Holiday Tree Lighting will take place November 22 from 5 to 5:30 p.m., followed by the Menorah Lighting on December 6 from 5 to 5:30 p.m
Ice Rink Hours:
The ice rink will have expanded hours during Winter break and on holidays.
