Parade Entry Ideas

We’re inviting neighborhoods, school teams/groups, local businesses, clubs, and friends to come together and show off their community spirit with a float or themed parade entry. Whether you’re building something elaborate or walking in coordinated outfits, this is your chance to bring the “Too Fly for the 4th of July” theme to life—and have a blast doing it! Not sure where to start?

Check out these ideas to help inspire your entry:

Take Flight with Patriotic Symbols – Think eagles, stars, wings, or other soaring symbols of American pride.

Celebrate Local Pride – Incorporate school spirit (like the New Albany Eagles), city landmarks, or neighborhood pride into your design.

Play with the Word “Fly” – Think cool, stylish, or trendy—embrace retro fashion, pop culture throwbacks, or bold red-white-and-blue looks.

Explore What Flies – Planes, hot air balloons, birds, kites, rockets, butterflies, or even imaginary creatures—anything that soars.

Use Movement to Show Energy – Dance groups, cheer squads, rollerbladers, or bike brigades with coordinated outfits and routines that bring energy and motion.

Channel the Sky – Daytime skies with clouds and sunshine, or night skies filled with fireworks and stars—use color and visuals to bring the theme to life.

Lean into Americana – Road trips, vintage convertibles, classic American style, or iconic destinations that make summer in the U.S. feel nostalgic and “fly.”

Think Future-Focused – Futuristic fashion, space travel, or imaginative visions of what a “fly” Fourth might look like in years to come.
