Updated: Sunday, June 28 at 6:03 p.m. – The City of Columbus Division of Water has repaired the damaged valve near Sedgwick Dr. and Bulrush Ct. Water pressure has been fully restored for affected residents.
Crews will return to the area soon to complete any necessary restoration work.
Updated: Saturday, June 27 at 3:39 p.m. – Thompson Road has reopened. Drivers should use caution when traveling through the area due to the temporary use of steel plates to ensure the road is safe.
Water service has been restored for residents and businesses along Thompson Road, though pressure fluctuations may occur as crews perform work on a damaged valve in the vicinity of Sedgwick Dr. and Bulrush Ct. The City of Columbus Division of Water is expected to return to the area on Sunday, June 28, to perform repairs on the damaged valve.
Water Main Repairs Temporarily Impact Thompson Rd. Traffic, Expanded Water Outage Area
The City of Columbus Division of Water is working to repair a water main break under Thompson Road. Thompson Road remains closed to through traffic between Sedgwick Drive and 5701 Thompson Road, with local access maintained for residents who live in the affected area. The roadway is expected to reopen to traffic with steel plates in place by approximately 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 27.
As crews began repairing the water main, they determined that a larger area needed to be temporarily taken out of service than originally anticipated. Water service has been temporarily shut off until approximately 5 p.m. on Saturday for residents in the following areas:
Water service is expected to be fully restored to residents on Thompson Road by the end of the day on Saturday. Residents living on the affected portion of Sedgwick Drive and Chelsea Green East may experience reduced water pressure until early next week.
The water main repair is expected to be completed by the end of the day on Saturday. The City of New Albany will complete a permanent pavement repair on Thompson Road at a later date.
